Scenic NZ Motorhomes information
Scenic NZ Motorhomes Rental TermsImportant Information About Your Rentals
On arrival, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the operators of Scenic NZ Motorhomes. Here is a summary of their terms and conditions.
The following definitions apply for the Terms and Conditions of Scenic NZ Motorhomes:
* The Supplier means the operator of Scenic NZ Motorhomes.
* The Client is also referred to as the hirer (s) or renter (s).
A security bond must be paid at the commencement of hire. This is fully refundable at the termination of hire, subject to the following:
- No damage has been incurred to the vehicle or any third party property
- No items belonging to the rental company have been lost or damaged
- The hire vehicle is returned in clean condition
- The fuel tank and LPG gas bottles are full
- Toilet and waste water tanks are emptied
- Any traffic and infringement fines have been paid
Charges will apply if this criterion is not met. The bond is NZ $2,000 / NZ$4,000 for drivers over 25 years of age and NZ$2,500 for drivers aged 21 - 25 years.
The booking deposit is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit the following charges apply:
Cancellation 24 days + prior to pick-up date - no further charges apply
24 days - 7 days prior to pick-up date - 50% of rental
Within 7 days of pick up or no-show: 100% of rental
There is no refund for late pick-up or early return of the vehicle.
Compulsory Standard Insurance
Compulsory standard insurance is included in the hire fee. The excess is held in the form of the bond and covers any single accident. NB: Insurance does not cover hirer's personal property. Insurance does not apply to reckless driving or driving whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The driver must be the person or persons nominated on the rental contract.
The hirer will be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens. The hirer is furthermore liable for puncture repairs or replacement of damaged tyres with the same type and brand.
Insurance Excess Reduction Option for 2 berths.
For an additional NZ$15.00 (inc GST) per day, the standard excess can be reduced to NZ$1,000 for 25+ drivers or NZ$1,500 for drivers 21-25 years of age.
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of Travel Insurance. In many cases, this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.
Vehicles must be returned on the date, place and time as agreed on the contract. If the motorhome is kept beyond the contractual hire period without authorization or consultation with the rental company, the contracted daily rate will be doubled for each day the vehicle is overdue.
A current valid international or New Zealand driver's licence or drivers licence from your country of origin is required. Drivers must be over 21 (25 for Fiat Ducato 4 berth)years of age with at least two years driving experience. No special licence is required to drive our motorhomes.
Breakdowns, Accident or Mechanical Failure
Our motorhomes have 24-hour roadside breakdown assistance by telephoning the provided number. In the event of an accident or mechanical problems, the hirer should contact the rental company as soon as possible. Repairs with a cost of up to NZ$80 may be made without authorisation and will be reimbursed, as long as receipts are available and the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Any cost above NZ$80 will require prior approval. No responsibility will be accepted for accommodation charges, meals or out-of-pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown or accident. Due to ever increasing bookings for our motorhomes especially during peak demand periods we may not be able to provide a replacement vehicle. Our liability extends only to a refund of rental charges for any days of loss of vehicle usage caused by a mechanical breakdown or accident.
New Zealand Speed Limits
The laws in this country restrict open road speeds. Our 4/5 berth motorhomes can legally travel at a maximum speed of 90 km/h but travel best at 80km/h. The two berth motorhomes can travel legally at 100km/h but we suggest 90km/h. Our countryside varies from rugged to serene and most roads are two-way and windy, the scenery is amazing so you will not want to rush by and miss the fantastic sights.
Our motorhomes can only be driven on sealed roads. No motorhome is to be taken on Skippers Canyon Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hutt Road (Aoraki Mt Cook) and/or north of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).
Environmentally Friendly Motorhomes
We take pride in the presentation of our motorhomes and will provide you with a clean and sanitised vehicle. To this end, we kindly ask that you do not smoke in our motorhomes and we do not allow pets to be taken on board. Candles in any form are extremely dangerous and are prohibited.
If in the unlikely event, the Scenic NZ Motorhome you have booked is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a comparable vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund. Should this replacement not be possible, we will refund each full day of the hire that is lost.
